After the chat in here I just picked up a PV65 bridge pickup for cheap. I’ll need to restring & flip the nut anyways, so pickup change nice and simple at the same time. Thanks for the heads up!
Nice 1 !
Im getting jazz XII curious.
None of my 12 strings have had jazzmaster pups, Id luv to see a demo with pups swapped out for quality jazzys, AVRI or similar.

I just picked up the JM XII in LPB today. Just wondering what strings you all use on yours? I normally use D’addatios on my other guitars but would try some others if they’re better suited for 12 string. Pyramids maybe?

I’m usually in camp d’Addario but am about to go for some Ernie Ball nickel wound 11-52, or maybe their 10-48 set.

Almost all of my 12ers are strung with d'Addario XL "regular light" 12-string set. Nice and sturdy set for all-around performance.
Didn't love the Ernie Ball's when I gave them a try, but they were .009s, so maybe that's part of it.

When the guru speaks! I wanted a wound low G because that’s my usual obsession, but I’ll give those a shot.

I usually go Ernie 10/46, their 10s are more robust "less snapping" than other brands ive tried..
Currently trying rickysound 10-42 compressed rounds on one of my 12s.Feel A little light for me and all 3 10s snapped!!
Earnies will be going on.

One lefty xii at your service. Need to get an angled jack, and learn how to play a xii string. Early indications: chorus & deep reverb on neck pickup = lush.
*edit* as requested by nudger/linden, a photo of the freaky reality.

Upside down offsets, Such a cool look!
Im chuffed that youre smitten with your 1st XII.
Could you be the 1st person who has no interest in changing the pups?

Thanks for all the inspiration with your lovely xii builds
I bought a PV65 pickup to put in the bridge after what everybody said. But I’m finding the neck pickup is great for clean & bridge works really well with a light rat driving it. Undecided right now, although I don’t think the world needs overdriven xii sounds

I was shocked how much fun it is to play the XII neck pickup into an overdrive, like summoning an army of rhythm guitarists.

With all this talk of overdriven XIIs I dug out one of my fave 90s bands The Mystreated

Loads of fuzzy Vox Tear XII goodness!
Im guessing that theres bunches of 60s stuff that I listen to thats Fuzzed/Overdriven 12s that goes under the radar.

Anyone done pickup swaps/electronics mods on these yet?
I have a set of Bootstraps doing nothing.
Other idea is to swap out the pickups in my AO and put the '65 PVs in the XII.

I put a set of PV ‘65’s in mine after I liberated them from my VMJM (funny enough,
that guitar got some custom Bootstraps).
The ‘65’s are amazing in the XII. I wanted a more traditional jangle and they’re doing exactly that.
