Great news. The truss rod works. Found an allen wrench for it.

I don’t get the sense that there’s anything wrong with that truss nut. The hex looks defined enough. Probably more a case of just not having the right fitting key.

I am such a moron - I was looking at those pictures like the hex shape in the middle was filling the end of the truss rod nut, but it was the *cavity* in the outer ring. The hole down the bottom is for the threaded end of the truss rod. I apologise if I confused anyone and Fiddy I am glad you figured it out! I was probably subconsciously sabotaging you so you had to send it to me instead.

Also, I guess because of the rattly tuner, it never got played much. Which means the frets are virtually new. Not a single divot.

The rattling was pretty bad, i can’t believe it made it past QC. All i did was was flip the little gear on the tuner, and that made it just as tight as the other 3.

I put slinkys 40-100, went with roundwounds this time. Flatwounds are getting pricey.

Plays awesome. I think is even cooler than my old and gone California blue Mustang bass.

Yeah, it’s awesome. My first instrument was a late 60s Musicmaster Bass, and I actually briefly owned one of the Vista Squier Musicmaster guitars in sea foam green back in 99 or 2000. Wish I had kept it.

Mmm... I honestly don't remember which one worked. I sold the bass too. Forumite mattK has one. He might be able to help you.
