Looks interesting.

What is Eastwood quality like these days? I had a couple about 10 years ago - a Country Gentleman style thing, and a 12-string Sidejack - and to be honest they were both a bit shit. Because of this experience, i am hesitant.

Dude, same. I had a 6-string hollowbody (the Country Gentleman you refer to maybe?) and it wasn't all that great. But I also have always wondered if that's just the way that hollowbody guitars feel. As a lefty, I haven't seen many in real life, and have played even fewer.

That said, this one looks great!

Yeah sounds like we probably had the same model (maybe not actual designed after a CG, my Gretsch knowledge is poor).

Hollow body guitars do feel very different to solids but my Eastwoods both suffered from low quality hardware, cheap and nasty electronics and shitty fret/nut work. All those things can be remedied, but at that point i would rather just pay more for guitar that is better out of the box.

If they have managed to lift their game in recent years I might be tempted to try another.

Did some digging on reviews of the stormbird last night. Seems that it’s good, but not exactly great value at £700. A squier being sold at MIM prices, to use a Fender metaphor.

I have visions of being non-plussed by this so cancelled my preorder. Be cool to hear what they’re like if anyone here buys one though - wouldn’t be the first time internet opinions are a poor judge of quality :D

That sounds like the model I had, and the quality too. The neck and frets were really rough. I want a hollowbody pretty bad, but that one gave me pause on every other hollowbody. I would love to see Eastwood make things a little nicer. With the models they put out, they could be a serious contender with a little better QC...

Totally agree. I also appreciate that Eastwood are catering to lefties a little more than most manufacturers. I’m just very cautious after two disappointing experiences.
