Does mine count?

Orpheus (Spin off brand from Conrad which were imported by David Wexler and Co. in Chicago, built in Japan similar to Teisco.
There's also a 4 or 6 string bass, and a 335 copy with the Orpheus badge as well.)

Right. I see a LOT of non-offsets in the previous posts, so I don't think it's a bad idea to post this. Similar things have undoubtly been posted, but whatever.  ;)

What makes a guitar qualify as 'offset'?
Offset means that the waist of the guitar is, well, offset. You can see this clearly in illustration 1. If you draw one line from the bottom of the waist straight up and another one from the top of the waist to the center of the bottom of the waist and see that the lines aren't parallel, it's offset. I believe the minimum angle of the waist has to be 10% (or something) to be offset. Ben (workoffire) has an excellent image of that, but I can't find it. That makes Strats to be non-offset.

On a Tele, for example, the waist is straight, you can see that in the lines getting 'on top' of eachother (illustration 2)

A firebird is a reverse-offset. The lines arent on top of eachother, but the angled line is to the left of the straight line. (I don't know how to put this better). See illustration 3.

A guitar is not offset just because you can draw a line through it (illustration 4). On an offset, there always are two lines that can be drawn and they're not on top of eachother. See illustration 4.

Pets are generally non-offset even though you can draw lines through them, as shown on Ferbis the Offset Dog(RIP) in illustration 5.

So, class, any questions?  ;)

Well it's very helpful, but the orpheus still qualifies as an offset then.
It just isn't very pronounced, particularly in the photos.

I wasn't referring to your post, more to the previous page. There are entire lists of guitars that simply are non-offset.

Wow.  ???
I really like that Tokai. Never knew that they did a (kind of) Jag copy.
Thanks to j-op and theworkoffire, also. When I talk about offsets with people they generally seem to consider an offset to be any guitar with a fat, odd-shaped ass. I guess that I'm not good at explaining things. Maybe I'll print out their posts and keep them in my wallet to use as visual aids for offset-impaired individuals.  :P
