From the Fender page: "The same guitar that originally crested waves of reverb-drenched singles by groups such as the Chantays and the Surfaris later fueled, for example, the dynamic grunge maelstrom of Nirvana, the translucent shoe-gazing dream pop of My Bloody Valentine and the literately artful alt-rock of the Pixies, the Flaming Lips and many others."

When did the Pixies use a Jag?
And if I'm not in a band, don't mean I'm square...and if I am, well then I don't care..

Black Francis used to mention in interviews that he had a Japanese Tele a 68 tele and an all original Jaguar, though I agree they're not exactly heavily linked with them. And tbh I always tied Jazzmasters with MBV more too. This used to come up a bit in discussions of who could get a Sig Jaguar (before J Marr did) and most agreed that no-one (cept kurdtz, though his isn't really a good representation of a proper Jaguar) really has the image of "a jaguar player"

They look amazing! but for the price I'd rather check out the Johnny marr model. I'm not the biggest fan of bound necks to be honest and the fact that they made it 9.5" is bleh. I've actually played a cp jag with a mustang bridge and the moved tremolo helps in making the guitar more versatile although I can understand why people are annoyed.

I would believe that Frank Black had a Jag, but I don't know how frequently he used it. I've definitely seen him play a Mustang, though.

Such a shame, I could live with the 9.5 radius as one of my Teles has it and I'm beginning to favour it (shoot me) but the moved trem ruins it, more the case it just looks plain wrong than affecting how it plays. In my opinion a B&B MIJ with new pickups makes more sense than one of these.

They did - scroll down: http://www.fender.com/products/jag50th/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... No=0170084
No, they didn't. Lake Placid Blue, Candy Apple Red, and Burgundy Mist are the finish options.
My bad - Forehead slap! Lake Placid with tort guard is my favorite combo, so every time I see Sonic Blue written, my brain malfunctions and thinks LPB.

Yeah, I think the problem with this is all in the marketing. Releasing it as the "50th Anniversary" Jag, you would think that would imply a more vintage accurate model. This is clearly a jag with some modernized appointments, which might well be very good and may help the guitar appeal to a broader range of players, but for offset lovers like us it comes across as more of a mixed message. I hope (and very seriously doubt) that there will be a lefty version.

Trem placement is a deal breaker. I want one of them neck plates, though.

maybe in your world, but not in fender's world. they did the same with the 60th anniversary Tele last year, which is neither vintage specs nor specifically nice (imho). Only difference is that you actually have a lot of vintage correct Tele options to chosse from if you want one. But, none of these has a fancy custom colour either. So it's not that different from the Jaguar, where there is a vintage correct version too.

This is not for me because of Radius and fretting. I didn't like them on the CP Jag, and I won't like them here.
