As many have already said, the AVRI jag is already a jag built accurately to vintage specs. Just think of it this way:

The 50th anniversary jag implements features to celebrate the evolution of the Jaguar over its 50 year existence. ;)

Makes sense to me...

If the tremolo moving towards the bridge is "evolution", then call me a Creationist.

Sarcastic comments aside, this guitar is basically a compilation of almost every non-original spec imposed on the jaguar for the last 50 years (minus humbuckers). I prefer a true vintage spec'd jaguar as well, but obviously that's not what was intended for the 50th anniversary model.

They would have done a lot better to just ship them with buzz stops. That way people who want a more modern sound can have it, but people who appreciate a more vintage sound could simply take it off.

I have the feeling, fender is going to change the trem position on every new jazzmaster/jaguar with a trem they release (except the avris)...

It is starting to look that way.

I think it's cool to make an american made modern Jaguar. Maybe it should not be a 50 anniversary Jag but a American Deluxe Jaguar or something like this... but I find the guitar is a good idea. Telecaster and Stratocaster have both AVRI and AD. Why not Jaguar and Jazzmaster?

But, I still prefer vintage specs on guitar...

I hope this was sarcasm! Maybe the only thing they did right here was not have freaking sunburst as a color option! Sunburst has been offered on every Jag variant to date, even the Squiers! I just can't take it anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Kurt Cobain arose from the grave and offered me his sunburst Jaguar.... don't get me wrong, I would take it.... but in the back of my mind I would be thinking "good grief, sunburst again..... and humbuckers again"!

Don't get me wrong now, anyone, please...

But looking at the picture of the LPB one... I can't help thinking... That the re-positioned tremolo looks not only sort of, but really good! The bridge is no TOM, and it's not sunburst, so maybe it kind of pops for me, but I really think it looks spunky, quirky, a bit more playful!

I'll join the "wrong" crowd too, and I couldn't be happier with my CP with vintage bridge combo, still needs a tweak now and then until I pick up some loctite, but it stays in tune with trem abuse, the strings don't jump out of the saddles, and best of all it doesn't need a fugly bzzzstop!

I really like the LPB too, - although not that it bothers me but I do think the forward trem just doesn't look as out of place on a 'burst, much as I dislike 'bursts, being black around the edge it balances the extra space between the trem plate and the guitar's butt somehow.
It don't mean a thang if it ain't got that twang!

'neck pocket moved'. Thats interesting....does that fix the problem Ive always had with Jaguars? IE not being able to get them to play in tune across the neck as well as a jazzmaster?

Dont like the moved tremolo..looks weird to me.

To all those complaining that the anniversary model is not exactly '62 specs, almost none (if not none) have been vintage correct. The anniversary Tele and P-bass that they came out with last year were not vintage correct, nor were the 50th anniversary Strats that came out a few years back. It's not advertised as a vintage correct '62, so I don't think it is as huge a screw up as many here are making it out to be. I don't think there are many mentions of Jaguars and Jazzmasters in books, magazine interviews, and online forums where there aren't numerous complaints that are mostly addressed by the moved tailpiece and increased neck pocket angle. Most of us here would have done shameful things to have this many offsets available just a few years back when Japanese models and AVRI models were the only options. My ideal setup would be binding and blocks with custom colors, matching headstocks, vintage radius and frets, low output pickups, and a Mastery bridge, but I don't expect that exact setup to be the one model that comes out. No spec set could satisfy everyone and I think this is a fair compromise.
