I don't even think these were Photoshopped. Some of it, like the strings in a lot of the pics, including the close-up, looks more like Microsoft Paint.

Well, these photos would be too much trouble for a prank. And April 2 is not April Fool's Day. Maybe Squier isn't planning to release these guitars, but if not, seems more likely to me that it's a misunderstanding or mistaken assumption than a deliberate attempt at fooling someone. They look like a product of the Fender marketing department, not a photoshop hack.

Even if folks here might get a little worked up about particular guitars from time to time, the humor value in a prank like this is extremely low, so what's the point?

They already have Vintage Modified Jazzmasters and Jaguars too. These would be called Classic Vibe wouldn't they?

The optimist in me believes this is real. I do admit, my eye for photoshop/fake is weak. But at the end of the day, whether it is or isn't fake, I hope it happens.

The more I think about it I think perhaps the joke is on us.

Indeed that's what I thought too. Maybe the Japan only Mustang Claasic Vibe was a pre-taste for a worldwide run.

I too am skeptical, but I don't see any signs of photo manipulation, especially not any obvious ones. That being said, I feel like squier is asking for the mockery fender received by putting that bridge on there- definitely not for the inexperiences musicians, but then again these would probably be higher priced than most other squiers so maybe it would more or less miss the standard squier market.

I for one am definitely grabbing a jag if this is true.

Looks legit to me, and god damn it, I'm going to have to GAS all over again. It's not even been a fortnight since my JMJM GAS, but those 'Stangs sure look fine

Hi! Original poster here. 5 pages in 12 hours. Impressive.

As for your concerns:
-I haven't registered here before because I've never owned an offset. Lurking was good enough. I am surrounded by friends with Jazzmasters (not an exaggeration) and someday I'll get off my butt and get one.

-As for April Fool's you'll notice I signed up on Sat but didn't post until early Mon AM so to avoid that issue.

-As for the photographs' legitimacy they come from the same place as all FMIC product images appear. Its a place they are available for all divisions for internal use. There are a lot of FMIC employees who have access to them. These photos are cropped and have had the Exif data removed. The bridge detail photo was from a full guitar photo with a resolution of 5562x1880. There are images like that for every model and color, for every FMIC instrument, every division.

-Photos are taken months in advance for brochure print deadlines, FMIC websites, and making sure online retailers have the gear images the day they are allowed to list them. Sometimes these photos may have early pre-mass production models. These are photos are for print and web. I doubt these guitars were even set-up. Is there Photoshopping going on? Sure, why wouldn't there be?

-From my experience I've never seen any gear this far along not become a regular production model. Once Fender busts out that damned brickwall for the Squier models its just a matter of time. The VM Jazzmaster (the non-trem, maple board one) photos appeared internally in September 2010 and the guitars were released NAMM 2011.
Like I said, don't bug your Fender dealers quite yet.

As for me, that CAR JM is looking pretty good.
I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Wonder if they'll have the satin finished neck of the JMJM? This is what will define them as truly great guitars
