Re: Why I keep coming back to the Jaguar
I've been an SG guy for quite some time and my first good guitar was an SG Classic with P90s that I got on Barack Obama's inauguration day. So I was feeling bored last summer and I thought, I'll get a CP Jaguar why not! Anywoo, since I got it last September I can probably count on one hand how many times I've played my SG. Now I wanna get one of those Squires so I can have the traditional trem placement and bridge for all kinds of Sonic Youth insanity

Songs just seem to jump out of my Jaguar. The sound of it makes music come alive. Viva la Jaguar!

Re: Why I keep coming back to the Jaguar
One more here that loves the Jaguar..
I was for the last year playing a tele I bought. I don't buy many guitars, so I gave her a fair chance, it sounded nice and my Jaguar needed some time off, the frets are getting flat on it. But each time I came back to it the magic was there. It is not only how it sounds, it changes the way I play guitar, a different approach caused by how the guitar is, and the 11s. Different things happen.
Last week I sold the tele and I'm looking now for my second Jaguar!.

Re: Why I keep coming back to the Jaguar
just got back on the jaguar tip myself. played a jazzmaster for the past 4 years, and forgot how exciting it is to play a short scale guitar. I feel the jaguar is just what I need. perfect tremolo, fender pickups, neck shapes, and familiar jm style body but a new scale to play it on. Keeps you on your feet.
here it is in action

I might try one more "revision" eventually, but it's good enough for a while.

Re: Why I keep coming back to the Jaguar
I only have my jag, but i had the oportunity to play for a time with gibson SG, Epiphone Sg, Les Paul Jr, Les Paul (chinese), Mexican Strat, Partsmaster Telecaster, Epiphone casino, and some more less relevant guitars, and no matter how many i play i still cant find one abble to destroy my love for the jag. Everyday i love it more.
It has some quirks. I dont recommend it to everybody since it has its own personality, but fits well with the things i play. dont wish any other guitar. Well, maybe a hollowbody, beacause of the uniqueness of the sound comparing with solid bodys. But i could live only with my jag for the rest of my life and be quite happy, though im no professional musician, i dont even have a band (or want one), i just play at home for my own amusement.
Long live the Jag

LPB Jaguar by pocaloc, on Flickr
I just took delivery on my thin skin LPB Jaguar and wanted to post on the thread that inspired me. I acually can't plug it in because I had to trade my amp to obtain the guitar I have a Fender Excelsior in the works though. I am liking it unplugged. The action on the trem bar is nice with the shorter scale. Can't wait to hear this thing amplified.

That's gorgeous! From what I understand the Excelsior has a kind of boxy, Silvertone kind of sound. I wonder how that will mesh with the Jag.pocaloc wrote:

Re: Why I keep coming back to the Jaguar
Thanks. What do you think as far as the Excelsior paired with a Jaguar? I'm not sold on it, but it seems like a nice tube amp for $300 and that's about all I can afford now that I emptied my funds on this guitar. The Dead Ranch Hands wrote:That's gorgeous! Re: Why I keep coming back to the Jaguar
I don't really know, I've never tried mine on an amp like that. I tend to prefer kind of blackface sounds, but it could be really cool.pocaloc wrote:Thanks. Just as I put work into my Jazzmaster and started to feel better about it being more modern. I just had to look into the Jag. Damn GAS. Damn this thread!
I'll probably join this party soon.
