do you remove the tremolo bar...
...when putting the guitar away?
i have my VM jaguar in a soft case, which is pretty roomy, but i dont take off the tremolo arm.
should i?
my tele has a bigsby trem, and ive never had a problem with the stings going out of tune, but the VM jag arm comes out further away from the body.

Twist it round so it points at the bottom RH edge and you should be okay as the profile is lowest that way and it's less likely to snag on seams or whatever inside the bag.

Leave it in.
1. Taking them in and out eventually leads to 'spreading' the collet so the fit gets sloppy or worse, breaking off one of the collet spllnes.
2. You'll eventually lose the arm.
3. The arms absolutely refuse to stay in the case pocket. One day you'll open the case after an hour in the car and find the arm has worked itself out of the case pocket and around to the front of your pristine Sonic Blue Jazzmaster. One hour of car jolting and cases rubbing later and the arm has carved a portrait of Rolf Harris on the front of your guitar.
4, I've seen a Jazzmaster fall about 2 metres onto a floor. it landed on the front with very little damage . I.m sure the arm acted like a shock absorber.

All of this. A thousand times over. You don't want Rolf Harris on your guitar.Bloke on the water wrote:Leave it in.

Back in the 90's, I saw a 60's Jazzmaster fly across the practice room at the drummer's head, hit the wall and fall to the floor. Pretty much stayed in tune. Them Fenders are built tough!
(It wasn't mine, it was the other guitarist's )

60s Jazzmaster thrown at the drummer!?!? Surely we'd have to accept that this a terrible waste of a 60s Jazzmaster ... sorry, I meant drummer.stig wrote:Bloke on the water wrote:Leave it in.

I don't remove mine, either.
What is the reasoning behind removing it?

Of course it's alive - you cannot make music with dead Muppaphones.

Leave mine on and I use an SKB case. No problems & the guitar is still in tune when I take it out.

Re: do you remove the tremolo bar...
+1 used to take it out, then there became nothing I could do to keep the arm in place. Bought a replacement '62 Tremolo, popped the arm in and haven't taken it out since: that thing is in there like a champ now. I don't see myself taking that arm off unless absolutely needed at this point.Bloke on the water wrote:Leave it in.

I was a bit scared to do it at first but now I confidently leave the arms
in whether it be a hard case or gig bag. No problems!

Back then, I'd pull out all the time. Now I just leave it in.
