^ George and John's Casinos and Brian Jones's Vox were probably the earliest roots of my guitar fetishism, maybe along with Weller's Ric on the back of All Mod Cons. My first half-decent electric was a Japanese 335 copy - I could get my head round a body shape, but dog-ear P90s were an intricacy too far for me.

My first offset was a Squier Vista Jagmaster in Candy Apple Red. Having an offset waist wasn't what attracted me to it, it was all the internet chatter about them being hidden gems. It took me a loooooong time to get the offset GAS, but it looks like its here to stay.

I'm a bass player first, my first bass was a Jazz Bass, I just preferred the asymmetrical body compared to the P-Bass and the double pickup configuration.

Then I started getting into guitars and saw J

But the one that made me pull the trigger was japanese guitarist Tabuchi Hisako

I was already playing, but he was pretty close to my first guitar "Heros" but not offset Heros

If we're talking, what started us playing guitar at all, then this to the billionth power. I was a bassist in pop punk bands before I realized the fury of Mr. Greenwood.

Not quite a "normal" guitar, considering he made it out of a fireplace, but it's a non offset, but:

and of course this man, first band i was ever obsessed with to an unhealthy degree:

And the offsets:

Richard Oakes, replaced Bernard Butler in Suede. I genuinely don't mean to brag but he's a distant relative of mine. 8)

It all started with this
Image
But i couldnt afford a proper Telecaster, until later in my life (then it got stolen )

So i found the way to get close to this
Image
By getting an Epi SG, which acompannied me until last year

But the reason i got an Offset is because of this guy

He's been using a Gretsch to record everything in studio since the 71,
with a bandmaster...

I was shocked reading that..

I know! the orange one, but still, the live sound of Pete is by far the most overwhelming and violent guitar tone ever, along with Page's telecaster years, so i wanted to emulate that fuzzy, raw, screeching sound.

the red special did it for me, too. my mom thinks i was genetically predisposed to being a guitarist, which may be true. kind of like how one doesn't know he or she has a peanut allergy until eating a peanut, i didn't know i was a guitarist until I saw brian may and the red special.

Kurt Bloch is the guy who started it for me. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a pic of him playing his beat up old SG junior, which is the guitar that started it for me.

He cemented his position as my #1 guitar hero when I saw him step on his cord mid-solo and simply leap to the mic and sing the rest of it without any trace of irony and without missing a beat.
This is an excellent rectangle
