Re: Post pics of the guitar that started it for you
The first guitar I ever fixated on was Jimmy Page's '59 Les Paul ("No. 1"). My days of obsessive teenage Zeppelin fandom were relatively short lived, and I have never owned a Gibson Les Paul ( I've got an Agile though, which is close enough for me).
The first Jazzmaster that caught my attention was Bob Bogle's on "Walk, Don't Run" (yes, Bogle played lead on that, not Nokie Edwards). I was captivated by the guitar sound on that record, and it took me years to figure out the Jazzmaster connection after they'd already become fashionable for '90s "alternative" bands. I could have sworn Bill Janovitz from Buffalo Tom was playing one when I first saw them in 1990 or so but I can't find any photos online to prove it.

Re: Post pics of the guitar that started it for you
The sound and look of Billy Duffy's Les Paul on the Electric and Sonic Temple albums created my first real need to own a specific guitar.
Which resulted in a 1978 Gibson Les Paul 25/50 (photo circa 1989) ...
Then like many people this changed everything for me in the early 90's ...
And my taste in guitars and guitar sound was changed forever!
Now much older, slightly wiser and a lot greyer, my love of offset guitars is stronger than ever.

Isn't it just something else. That wood tone, mini humbuckers and control plate with the Fender amp knobs. Mmmmm. They were only made in the 70s (I think), and you can get them on ebay for like 2500ish.HOT DAMN! WANT!

If some one doesn't know yet it's a Dubreuille custom "Ken"

Nope, squires custom guitars were made by Stuart Palmer....who now works out of electro music in Doncaster...my local shop! And Stuart is the nicest guy you could wish to meet.Rosteam2000 wrote:blacktiger wrote:First was John Squires' custom Jag-y thing:

Re: Post pics of the guitar that started it for you
Oddly...my offset inspiration came from a historically non-offset player.
Dave Navarro.
He used a 70's Jazzmaster in the video for Deconstruction's "L.A. Song". I have no idea if the guitar was actually ever used on that song or not, but I fell in love with the look and what I thought was the sound on that album.

Billy Corgan's "bat strat". Basically a 1990 sunburst 57' reissue that's seen a ton of abuse a sloppy paint job.

Re: Post pics of the guitar that started it for you
the guitar always followed me around kinda there were always representations of a guitar or signs for me to pick up a guitar even when i went through a phase when i wanted to play drums but couldn't find anyone (now i know a load of drummers ironically)... but what really got me into it was a toy stratocaster my grandmother gave me when i was seven... i didn't really look at details of guitars until that point... then i would imagine that if i ever got a guitar i would play one just like it...
i never did find one like it... maybe i'll put one together someday

For me it was seeing QOTSA maybe 4 years ago. My uncle is good friends with Josh so I got the full hookup. It was nice to hear some real music. Troy got me with his jazzmaster. Got my mustang because of Mac Demarco.
