Haven't read the Bass VI topic. Is it out of production? If so, it's a shame.

The Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI has been discontinued but they've replaced it with a new Classic Vibe model:

Case for Alternate Reality Fender Electric XII PETITION ON PAGE 14 - SIGN NOW
I recently got a Fender Mexican Electric XII. I’ve wanted one since the ‘60s—I couldn’t afford one as a teenager. Well, now I’ve got one, and it’s cool, but it shipped in a crappy gig bag. I contacted Fender to see if they have a case that will fit, and they don’t offer one. A Jazzmaster case should fit the body, but the ones I’ve investigated online are too short for the headstock by an inch or two. Anybody know of a case that will fit? I’ll get a bass case if I have to, but the guitar will slide around in one of those. The dimensions of the Electric XII are 43”L x 14” W (lower bout) x 1-1/2”D, at least they are for the ‘60s ones—I got those dimensions online. I understand that Fender didn’t have any original specs or blueprints to refer to for the reissue. Perhaps they all went with Leo and wound up at G&L!

@ anyone wondering about a case for the Alternate Reality XII... you need to custom order one, or luck out on a vintage one. Just ordered mine through G&G. Comes to about $325 USD after shipping. Cheers y'all.

Or get a SKB Jazzmaster/Jaguar case... my ‘65 XII does fit in one of those!

Alright- the case question:
I bought 2 Gator GW-JAG model cases (Best Offer'd on ebay - $110 each with free shipping) and they will work splendidly- after a slight modification.
The interior of the case has some foam padding at the butt end that needs to be compressed ALL THE WAY to the wood to make room for the tip of the headstock to clear the top of the case when it closes. The case specs actually read an inch short for the 42" long guitar, but there's about 1 1/4" of padding combined at the top and bottom ends.
(pic coming)
I bought a couple bar clamps at Harbor Freight ($4bux each) to squoosh the foam down- I'll leave them on for a few days to give it memory, and then close the guitars in to let the shape settle.
(pic coming)
The custom-build Texas Toast XII (built from the Faction Guitars template) is about 1/8" shorter than the Fender in total length- imperceptible except for the tight tolerances for the case fit. It fits ever-so-slightly easier, but they both are snug in their new hardshell cocoons!

This was a 7/8 scale offset kit from The FretWire or Pit Bull that I picked up for cheap. I got the neck off of eBay for $60. The biggest expense was the Fralin -10% wind P90s.
