just discovered that my squier bronco is an offset guitar, that means i have two offsets!
anyone got one of these? it's not bad, it has a really nice neck and i love the musicmaster shape. only thing is it lack bottom end. I wonder what the reason for this is  because I've often seen mustang basses professionally used and those don't have a larger body than the bronco i think.

We almost bought one of those for my son when he was about 11 - 12. We ended up getting an Affinity P-Bass instead and not long after, a LPB MIM P-Bass that he still has. But those Bronco basses look pretty cool!

BTW - We started the boy on bass because my daughter and I were already playing guitar. But it turned out the boy picked up the guitar a few years later and in no time he was worlds above and beyond both of us. He went on to play drums, keyboard as well. He did two years in the Florida State school of music (vocals) and is now managing a guitar store and playing in a band.

That humble Squier started him on a long love and career with music!

Now back to the Bronco - What pickup does it have? I think the original MM bass used a gray-bobbin 6 pole guitar pickup.

it had a strat (style) pickup with an white cover covering the pole pieces so you don't see it's a guitar pickup. it sounded ok but I bought a seymour duncan hot single coil p-bass pickup hoping it would give more bass response. it did't add as much as I expected but it has more of a bass guitar sound than before. I liked the sound with both pickups though. I left the duncan pickup mainly because a widened the pickguard for it (and it's black and looks real cool on the bronco)

That's pretty cool they stuck with tradition and used a guitar pickup! They could have easily thrown some Chinese P or J Bass stuff in there.

Sounds nice with the Duncan. I'll bet it's a sweet little bass.

yeah it sounds good, but some more bass response would be nice... but then again  i don't play bass in a band

I was trying to sell my Jazz bass to get a short scael squier bass, but no luck.

Bronco Basses are cool, though I've unfortunatley never heard one plugged in yet, my guess is they have a unique sound considering the short scale and guitar pickup.

people on hc reviews compare the sound to a p-bass.

I have an MIJ Mustang Bass - same shape but more upmarket - the bronco is more like the old MusicMaster. Anyway - Mustang = lots of Bass when played with fingers and tone rolled off. I love short scale basses of all kinds and thought about getting the Bronco for a while
