If you ever come across any of Fender's Zodiac Solid-State amps from the '70s, they all have Starcaster F knobs. Luckily, they're in no way desirable, so parting out the knobs isn't going to harsh anyone's vibe!

Oh, and as I was scrolling through this thread, I kept wishing the Starcaster came in Candy Apple Red.

Why are people more interested in the Starcaster than the Coronado? (The Starcaster thread is twice the length of the Coronado thread). It seems to me that the Coronado is the much cooler guitar. Just interested in hearing opinions.

Well this is "OFFSET guitars", so it would make sense we favor the Starcaster here.

A vintage Starcaster on average sells for around $4000

The average vintage Coronado sells for around $1000-$1500

Soooooooooooooo.... That is my guess why it is more popular.

And its cool ;D

For many, the Coronado is a monument to what went wrong with Fender post-1965. I've seen many hanging on guitar shop walls over the years and have examined them from time to time with low interest. Contrary to what many say is an inferior CBS product, I have found them to be moderately well made. Nevertheless, I have still had trouble "liking it". The Starcaster has always been more appealing to me as it is a maple fretboard 335ish Fender offset.

These look great, I'm pretty happy that it's not a $2k reissue.

Having a hard time deciding on whether to grab one of these and stick a JM trem on it, or just convert my JM into a Jazzblaster ;)

I'm curious how wide the block is on the starcaster - and if it would actually enable you to put a jm trem on... You would most likely need to recess it so that it could be level on the carved top. I was thinking of doing a vibramate on the tailpiece and putting a bigsby on.

Anyone know when these will be up on musicians friend and such? Looking forward to trying to nab one of their restocks.

I expect that they will be up on Wednesday. The labor day sale will be extended to tomorrow and the Fender sale ends today. If we are lucky they will be up tomorrow and the coupon may still be active.

Thanks. Anyone have lots of experience with the modern player guitars. I played a jaguar with p90s that seemed nice enough but I'm kind of wondering if dumping 400 dollars worth of pickups into this guitar will be worth it?

I have the Modern Player Tele Plus. I really liked the neck and the pine body was both lightweight and resonant, but the pickups are garbage and I couldn't get along with a Tele with so many switching options. So I "Esquire Jr-ed" it with a Mean 90. Now it is an awesome guitar.
