Sounds like a great idea :)

So much better than issuing yet another version of a Strat or Tele :derp:

I'm starting to think that the headstock was the best thing of the Starcaster

It was a fine lookig guitar, its just that the sum of the parts was not greater than the whole

They're making it a CIJ? In that case it'll actually be affordable!

I'd still expect a price in excess of $1600 (maybe even $2K), given the pricing of things like the Fender Japan semi-hollow Jaguar and Bass VI models.

Take a set of lollar regals to replace the rubbishy reissue WRHBs and problem solved.

I'd take a new CIJ happily. It'll be:
- consistent
- well made
- cheaper than vintage by some distance
- good wood
- upgrade worthy

Is anyone curious enough to start looking up what famous Starcaster players played gigs on that particular date?

I guess that'd be Radiohead, The Killes and Morrissey...

Surprised it has taken them this long to release one. I do think that price is going to be too steep for them to sell many of them though. We might justify it, but most people will see it as an overpriced imported Fender. Let me guess... Sunburst, black, CAR.

This was the best response in that bunch:
i picked up a used starcaster recently for $60, it really isn't that great. the stand and mini amp it came with almost make up for it.
:D
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.
