Oh my God. Looks like they nailed it. I need to win the lottery and keep Bilt busy for a couple of months just building my arsenal.

A bandmate ordered one. He sent me a photo of the neck ha pretty excited, that thing looks amazing! A buddy of theirs brought one by a show. LPB with a Gold guard, apparently they made it for him some time ago. The thing played and felt so amazing! But then again, so has every bilt i've touched!

That's pretty damn nice.
I've overcome the OMFG!! reaction yesterday and taken another look at it ... yup, still nice.
It will be interesting to see how this compares to the (hopefully coming) Fender reissue. The Bilt will have exceptional build quality (without a doubt - my Revelator is the nicest brand new guitar I've ever owned) so the question will be whether a more expensive (probably) custom build guitar will be better than an original Fender made guitar - a lot will depend on where it's made and what the quality level will be.

I have a notion that if Fender reissue the Starcaster it will come from the same Korean factories that currently make the Gretsch Electromatic guitars (and also the new Guild Newark Street guitars). If that happens I would check one out - those Electromatics from last year were some pretty damn good hollow bodies.

If cash were no option I'd go the Bilt route - I cannot fault Tim and Bill for their customer service, communication during the build process or the quality of their finished product.

Intelligence reveals that this is going to be called the "Volare" and preliminary priced at 3300-3500. Should be official in about a month.

This is purdy awesome! The price will keep me from getting one in a while though. I want one quite bad! Hopefully fender can cook up some magic and maybe offer one at a 1000-2000 dollar princerange and I'll pounce :)

Gentlemen....It brings me...SUCH great pleasure...

.......

my understanding is its called the Volar'e. My band mates is shipping out on monday and hes been teasing me with pictures the Bilt guys have been sending him. He gave me permission to post them here haha So It does of course have a stop tailpiece like the original, my bandmate wanted a JM trem system on it. Apparently it was a bit of a pain to put it on a carved top but they made it work! I think my bandmate's may technically be the first "Volar'e" (which is he amazingly proud of!) but at any rate it looks to be an amazing guitar and i cant want to play it! Lollar Regals i believe. I prefer rosewood but it aint mine and its still beautiful!
