If I'm not mistaken that guitar is sporting a floyd rose, locking nut and humbuckers....  :-\
Look at the botom of the neck near the body you can see the side nut adjuster, it a Warmoth.
Im not against having a guitar with a floyd rose with locking nut hmnbuckers...

to me, its just kind of a one trick pony... :-\
Make like a tree... and fuck off.

I don't think any Volta guys chimed in yet so, I will do so...
Some of my favorite afro shots of Omar Rodriguez from the punk days, very offset!!

and, some Volta shots with his new signature Ibanez offset.

I had a good picture of Omar with a Jazzmaster in the backround, I cant find it.
Hopefully, I will get the chance to take some pictures myself on October 1st!!

*EDIT*

For all who are unfamiliar, the guitar in the first two pictures is a modified (left hand) Vista series
Fender Squier Super-Sonic. The band was fairly important to punk at the time, At the Drive-In.

Now, he is the Mars Volta and has released a few solo projects also.. mostly prog stuff.

I think omar is overrated.

At the drive in > Mars Volta

I love the first mars volta album, but the rest are just okay

I think a lot of At the drive in fans would agree with you,
I feel the same way about the first Sparta album

Omar isn't the greatest guitarist in the world, but I worship the band as a whole.
They just put out a great album, I can't wait to see 'em perform some of the tracks.

I am a Volta guy till death. I only have love for only two or three albums
of At The Drive In, mostly early releases like Acrobatic Tenement and
In/Casino/Out.

Everyone loves the first Volta album Deloused.. Because producer Rick Rubin kept
Omar from floating off into space. Omar has produced his own albums ever since.

I look at Omar as a composer more so than a shred artist! ;D

I think he is great and I went to their last show in Philly but At the Drive-in was such a beast of a band I mean. I have a lot of his solo stuff and I think it is totally great to and I think he is pushing the limits of texture and tone.

ps
There are some great shots of him floating on the internet with a whole bunch of pedals sooo cool. I don't like the head stock on the JetKing or on his model something just doesnt look right.

+1

At the Drive In was a beast of a band for a long time. Ive been following for a very long time, 1997 or 98 I
was in Texas and I had got a chance to catch the last few minutes of a show.. Ive had Omar radar ever since.

As I got older, Ive moved apart from punk. But, I still keep the old days close!
I love his solo work, Apocalypse Inside of an Orange has a ton of amazing work.

I like everything about his Jetking except the headstock. Too gibson for an offset guitar! :D

The last At the Drive in Album was the most amazing thing of all time.

I think the reason most people like Deloused is because it sounds like At the Drive In.

I think Jim Ward and Omar were a powerhouse, and they were a great balance to each other.

i think at the drive in and mars volta are both inane bands, some people really get into them but I think there were better bands in that genre of reality that just didn;t last as long.
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

funny lol

Relationship of Command is a great record but borderline punk at that point. Early albums have alittle
more of that 90's punk sound, which I prefer but still relationship is good album to shout out to the masses.

Early volta emulates At the Drive In a bit.. besides Deloused, Tremulant EP was the first release, great stuff.

I cant wait for the show, like seriously.

Deloused was very good, but I brought Frances De Mute and was disappointed... and I have their new one but I haven't listened to it yet...
