P.s the PS VI is not crap - I was just personally disappointed - and wanted to change a heap of it there and then. Just not cost effective for me overall. I'd bought two VM's last year already. I imagine the Squier VI's will be out late fall - time will tell.
I'm inclined to stick with the PSVI simply because it will be here, today, and I don't have to wait. I'm not that fired up about vintage specs--my main guitar is a modded, midi-fied Toronado--and I think I got about as good a deal on this guitar as was possible. I've got a Squire Jazzmaster that is nice but super flaky--bad switches and stuff like that. I'm hoping the extra money on a Fender will help me skip the "work out the kinks" stage that comes with these Squires. I've got a Schecter Hellcat that I may convert to a baritone tuning.

Now, given that the world is about to be flooded with Bass VIs, I'm curious when we'll start hearing them in bands' new tracks!

no matter what people say about the PS VI and its departure from vintage specs, it plays very nicely. i have had two in addition to my USACG VI clone and the PSVI were EXCELLENT instruments.
These Squier instruments look great, but they are very inexpensive. The quality will be inferior to the PS VI.

Time to put it back in the dressing room. There WAS a VI room.

With how good the current VM traditional Jags/JM's/Mustangs are, I will disagree.

Bloody Hell.

...

I'll take one in black, then fire a black pickguard on it. None more black.

Not to poo on the parade or anything, but is it just my hungover eyes malfunctioning or do the headstocks look like they all say "Squier XI" instead of "Squier VI"?

Absolutely - and all the best - am sure you will be happy.

The things I intend to change on the VM VI will be the Guard, Tail, Pots and Dial's and perhaps Caps. Hopefully I wont need to Pot again - also interested to know what the neck radius will be - though imagine 9.5 VM as before, which will likely mean for me a switch over to a modded Mustang Bridge.

Well then. I picked the right day to sign up for an account! Can't wait for this, hope to see it in 2013. Might have to sell off my Cyclone to cover one of these, but I think it would be worth it...

;)

A little - but have a bunch of parts already at hand. Ultimately - closest to the true vintage version for a fraction of the "once in a blue moon" Fender Reissue / Custom shop - hang 'em high - price tag. I will be happy is the main thing.
