2014 Troy Van Leeuwen Signature Jazzmaster
Here's the 2014 Troy Van Leeuwen Signature Jazzmaster. Nothing too unexpected. It is built in the Ensenada plant. Model number is 14-0070-793.
From the Fender description: Gloss Oxblood finish with a four-ply red tortoiseshell pickguard. White witchhats. Two-way toggle switch on the upper horn rather than the customary slider switch, and the brass-saddle Mustang bridge is combined with a Jazzmaster tailpiece. “C”-shaped neck profile and heel-end truss rod adjustment, 7.25”-radius bound rosewood fingerboard with 21 vintage-style frets and pearloid block inlays. American Vintage ’65 Jazzmaster pickups. Hardshell case included.
MSRP will probably be in the $1600 range and it should MAP at around $1100-$1200. I saw the Fender Frontli-, er, I mean "Illustrated Pricelist" today and totally forgot to look. Duhr.
Also the Pricelist showed that the Jim Root and the Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmasters are the only offsets added to this year's models. (That is until Fender puts out 40 different models 3 months from now just like 2013 and 2012. They should just wait until July to print that damn catalog.)

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Well I'll be having one of them then!
Seriously - looks great, B&B, AV pickups, mustang bridge.
This is a little bit like the Marr was with the Jaguar.

Looks nice!! Brass saddles are really classy! Wonder about the price, a mexican made that sits in the 1100-1200 range is a bit odd.

I want one. I won't get one, because it shares most of the specs with my Jazzmaster and I don't have the money for one.
But I want one.

Seems like a very nice JM. Nice to see a 7.5 radius and vintage frets, 65 pick ups, and a great bridge right out of the box... and I like the color. I predict these will be popular... like a nice compliment to the Marr Jag. I'm very pleased with my current JM, or I would be all over these.

I love it - the only thing I think I'd change is that big ol' switch on the top horn. But then, I guess a regular plate would be a simple swap out and then you'd end up with a really classy guitar.

Re: 2014 Troy Van Leeuwen Signature Jazzmaster
I like that they took their time with this.
I remember that the first version used CP bodies with the changed trem location ... and now they've gone back to vintage trem placement. I also like that they're using the 65 AV pups ... those are some pretty decent sounding stock pickups imho. It's also interesting to hear that they're using a mustang bridge with brass saddles - obviously as a compromise from Troy's desire to use the Mastery (I think I read that somewhere, possibly on here).
In fact, the more I look at the specs, the more I think this is a Jazzmaster that I wouldn't need to touch apart from setting up ... it's got great pickups, a stable bridge ... all okay.
I guess it'll have no shielding plates. If that's the case then a quick job with some shielding tape will have her rights.
Damn, I knew I'd find something to direct my OCD-ness towards...

It is vintage correct. As Despot pointed out Troy's prototype had the modern placement but he found out that this is not vintage correct and he wanted it fixed on the final version.gusman2x wrote:What's the tail peice placement on that. Looks almost vintage correct?

So with the exception of a toggle switch up top, you've got a vintage correct JM, with B&B, and an awesome colour coming out of Mexico?

Like it but I don't understand how the upper horn toggle switch cannot intefere with the right arm/hand. Someone who bought this guitar will have to adjust is playing.

I suspect it's orientated front to back rather than top to bottom - like the way that Bilt have changed the direction the slide switch works in the Revelator (so it works sideways rather than up/down).Arthon wrote:Like it but I don't understand how the upper horn toggle switch cannot intefere with the right arm/hand.
