That's the Photo-Flame Jazzmaster (Fotoflame?), made in Japan in the mid-90s. They were quite popular for a few years, and today are both loved and hated... depending on who you talk to. The controversial feature is the flame. It's fake. It was done by Kodak (or some film company), and is basically a photo of flamey wood printed on transparent film. They wrapped the body in it and covered it with the clearcoat.

Otherwise, it's standard MIJ fare, which of course, is not bad.

Today they are unusual and are quasi-collectible by those who like them. The main thing is if YOU like it.... and it appears you do.

Congratulations!

:)

You know that is a really dark board. If you wouldn't mind could you post a few close ups?

BTW nice guitar, I think Photo flames are are fun. I would have liked to see one done with blonde.

I almost bought a jag like that once, wish I had!

I've given some thought to having some flamed maple printed out and giving it a go myself, but I dunno where to take a hi res photo of flamed maple, aside from buying some I suppose...  Itd probably be easier and about the same price to just buy a flamed maple body or neck for my low production...the plus to printed maple is I could edit it to look like anything I wanted:)  Hamburlar flame, cookie monster flame,elvis...

I always liked FotoFlame on offsets.  Actually, that's what the first Jazzmaster I ever played was, a 1994 Foto Flame 62' Reissue with Seymour Duncan vintage Jazzmaster pickups, I played Cars songs on that thing for 2 hours, the store liked the sound so much they came by and turned the amp up TWICE.

I was 10 minutes too late the day mom was going to buy it for me as my FIRST electric guitar, however, someone got there before me, and I wound up getting a Kramer Focus 3000 that gave me about 8 years of trouble enough to learn to BUILD a Jazzmaster (let's just say regluing wood to reinstall a Floyd Rose, reinforcing the weak pointy headstock, and other things make building an offset look like nothing). Hmm, I think I need to look into that Kodak process.
