"Exposed" JM pickup mounting?

Post by BC9153 » Fri Oct 24, 2014 4:15 pm

Hello all,

I have a JM project that only needs some fixes in grounding and mounting the pickups, and was wondering if there was a way to mount the JM pickups without using the pickup covers, so that the pickups are exposed.
Has anyone done this and care to share their experiences? Or, is this something that is either improbable or should never be done?

Your help is most appreciated!

I was thinking more like a wood-mounted humbucker look without a ring, but this is close.
My neck and bridge pickups are of different colors, and I like how they look so I didn't want to cover them up with plastic :\
