Need a replacement saddle height adjustment screw

Post by blimpage » Fri Aug 18, 2017 10:18 pm

I just lost one of the saddle height adjustment screws from my Jazzmaster's bridge. The very end one is now missing:

This is especially infuriating since I lost it while restringing and cleaning up the guitar so that I can sell it. Now I've gotta get this fixed up before I can list it.

Any idea where I can get a replacement allen key screw, preferably within Australia? Hoping I don't have to buy a whole replacement saddle (or bridge!), since all the parts are fine otherwise.

FYI this is the stock bridge on a current-model Fender Standard Jazzmaster HH. Not sure if these screws are standard.

i have a similar problem but with a grub screw that got damaged from loctite bs. I've bookmarked a cheap replacement from ebay for like $8, easy enough. Can just use the grub screws from that or if they don't fit then the whole barrel.

Hmm, I think I've found a place in Australia that sells just the allen screws: https://guitartrade.com.au/index.php?ro ... ht%20screw

I'm not 100% sure what size I need, but at 50 cents each I can just order a bunch of sizes and bin whatever doesn't fit.

I'll mail you one, but idk what the shipping time to Australia would be from Canada.

;D That's extremely kind, but the shipping would probably cost 10x the price of the part!

This morning I placed an order with the place I linked above, so we'll see if that does the job.

The standard US JM threaded type saddle screw Is a 4-40x1/4 screw (0.112" at 40 threads per inch x 1/4" long). They typically use a 0.050" allen key.
If anyone in Aust needs one, I'll pop it in the mail. Might assume that japanese saddles use metric, but who knows.
Give us a yell if you luck out.

Yeah, true true. I bought a cheap bridge for $10 just to scavenge for screws, springs, etc as I needed them. the saddles and larger metal parts are crap, but it was the cheapest way to get all the other bits where I live and there doesn't seem to be a difference in quality on the tiny parts.

The parts from Guitartrade arrived and one of the variety of screws I ordered fit. :P Thanks to all who offered to send parts, y'all are legends!

It was the metric (M3) screw that ended up fitting, which I wasn't expecting. This model is made in Mexico, is metric standard for MiM models?
