Classic player Jazzmaster - somebody nicked my bridge

Post by mikbank » Wed Aug 30, 2017 6:33 am

Hi guys.

So, a couple of weeks ago, I did a full cleanup of my beloved CP jazzmaster, but before I put new strings on it I had to attend some festivals. Long story short; when I came back, somebody had removed my bridge.

So now I need to get a new bridge for the guitar, but I'm having trouble identifying the correct bridge for the guitar.
When I look through the info from Fender, the bridge is listed as an adjust-o-matic bridge, but I'm not quite sure that the gretch variation you can find in stores is the same as the one that came with the guitar.

Do you guys have any insight on this? I'd like to keep the guitar as original as possible, but I do have an extra tube-o-matic bridge from an old epiphone in stock. Could I use that?

And of course, now that I've read the FAQ, I'm a bit wiser, but is it possible to buy a bridge that's ready for use on the cp jazzmaster, or will I have to go through the modifications (filing the saddles) to make it fit?

Look at one of the Wilkinson roller bridges! They should drop right onto the post and I like the rollers better than the original saddles for trem use.

A really eccentric thief, weird.

Have a look at this. It's supposed to fit the CP and it rolls!

That one worked well on a CP JM and it didn't fit on a Squier JMJM, go figure. But yeah, OP, get that one and consider it an upgrade.

The GuitarFetish roller bridge posted above fits a CP Jazzmaster. I bought it for mine, and it was a direct drop-in replacement.

I would put a little bit of vaseline on the posts to help it slide on freely, but otherwise it as easy as could be.

First post here, longtime lurker.

I have a JMJM and a Classic 60s Jaguar. Both of them have the adjustomatic bridges but I noticed that they are indeed different sizes. Wondering if anyone could confirm that the Classic 60s Jag has the same size bridge as the CP Jazzmaster. Those roller bridges look like an interesting replacement that I'd be into but I don't want to buy one and it turn out incompatible.
