JM pickguard w/o rhythm circuit - shielding?
I'm going to be changing my JM to a wiring setup without the rhythm circuit (and a Spitfire guard, I think), all the pickguard shields I've seen have the rhythm cutouts - is that a small enough area to not care or should I plan on adding some copper tape to that area?

I can't imagine this small area making a difference IMHO. But I would be curious to see what others think. My vote is always for anodized pick guards as they seem to make for a more silent guitar - YMMV

Shielding matters when it surrounds electrical components. If you have no rhythm circuit, you don't need any shielding there, assuming you've got your pickup selector in the standard location. There shouldn't be any component of your wiring going up that far on the body anymore.
