Factors contributing to stiff JM tremolo motion?

Hello all,
I just finished my BMM JM build and I’m loving this guitar so far. However, I’ve noticed that the movement of the trem is stiff. I’ve tried adjusting the spring tension on the trem, but I can’t say that this has had much effect. Could neck angle and bridge height also play a role in this? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide with this!

Edit: I also have a CP JM whose trem has a nice, soft motion. This is my point of comparison. Could it be something as simple as a softer spring?
