Johnny Marr Jag bridge saddle screw size?

Post by thegumbootman » Mon Sep 24, 2018 3:12 am

Anyone know what size screws are in the bridge saddles of the Johnny Marr Jag bridge? I have one missing and I can't seem to find online what size I need for replacement.

I thought this might have been answered by now. My only 2cents on the subject is that if the Marr bridge's origins are in Asia (as are many jag bridges) then the intonation scews and bridge height screws would be M3. Stock, the intonation scews are often 18mm long but I think 16mm works better (less likely to foul the string ahead of the saddle). Easily found from generic Chinese screw suppliers on ebay.

AFAIK the Marr bridge is basically just a stock Mustang bridge with anti-sink bushings added on the bottom of the height screws. But a Marr owner can hopefully confirm if the screws are in fact metric or imperial.

Thanks for the reply.

I do also have a Mustang bridge and can confirm the screws are not the same, so I am assuming the Marr bridge uses imperial screws.

Might have found it...

These (0015693049) are in the American Pro Jag/Jazzmaster bridges:

I'd assume they would be the same in the Marr Jag bridge?

Probably a reasonably safe bet ... if they are indeed imperial (4-40 X 5/8"). Also ..

Fender does say they are used on AVRIs at least ...

And Angela mentions Mustangs ..

With shipping, probably cheapest via ebay ...

Screw length does seem to be a strong clue on USA vs metric. Most of the Asian metric bridges have 18mm M3 intonation screws. If imperial screws, 5/8" = 15.9mm. So you can often tell a USA bridge by its shorter screws (and ~16mm does work better IMHO ... 18mm is too long).

I can confirm now, the 4-40 x 5/8" screws are the correct ones for the Marr Jag bridge saddles.

I ended up getting these as they were cheap and posted from Australia:

Thanks again Tim!
