Loose trem arm and pickup question
Hello everyone. This is my first post. I have 2 questions about a 2017 MIM Jazzmaster players series. First, can I replace the humbuckers with single coils without having to rout anything. Second, my trem arm is too loose with nothing there to help hold it , no collet or anything else to help it. It has a set screw with a rubber tip in the bottom of the arm which does nothing and that's it. I tried to order the Staytrem arm and collet through a UK address via a forwarding service but that got shot down and my money was refunded by Staytrem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Putting JM SCs into the Player series JM requires routing ....

Others can advise on best tricks for making the trem arm tighter (eg tape wrapping, pipe clamp).
Otherwise Am Pro and CP trems have screw-in arms if you want to go that way.

Re: Loose trem arm and pickup question
I don't know about MIM trems but on my AVRI trems I jammed bits of nylon thread (strands taken from some nylon string used for packing but fishing line might work too) in the trem hole with the arm when I put it in. This lasts a lot longer than plumber's tape.

Re: Loose trem arm and pickup question
I had good luck getting the smallest hose clamp I could find at the hardware store and tightening it down around the collet. Make sure you put the screw part of the hose clamp in a place where it won't impede operation of the trem, (e.g. hit the body when you put it in). You can adjust it to be as tight as you want, and it should last a good long while.
