First, I must say, I love the shape of the neck and the sound of this VM Mustang. I was expecting a much thinner neck . This neck is more like the MIM Esquire reissue neck I have, much thicker than the AVRI '62 Jag or VM JM.
Anyway, this trem is driving me nuts! I cannot make it stable, even very subtle use throws it out of tune. I'm looking for ideas. Here is what I've tried so far:
* raised the tube and the saddles so that I can clear the back of the bridge (had to shim the neck for this)
* clipped the intonation screws so that they don't touch the strings
* put 11s on (and widened the nut slots to accommodate)
* lubed all contact points
* moved the springs to the last notch -- furthest from the trem plate
I've seen at least one complaint about the stock springs -- I can try replacing. Also wondering about getting a Fender trem -- will it fit?
Thoughts?

Re: VM Mustang Tremolo Stability Problems
If your trem plate holes do not have bevelled edges you may need to add them so that the pivot screw contacts a sharp knife edge ...
