Squier J Mascis neck tribute thread

Post by tune_link » Fri May 24, 2019 6:30 am

I used to own one of the Squier J Mascis Jazzmasters. I sold it cause the one I had was particularly heavy. I loved the neck on it though and have been thinkin of buying one of those necks separately and using it on a partscaster I put together. I know this has been done before. I thought it might be fun to see who among the OSG forum has already done this with that neck and if they'd want to post pics of their guitars with it.

I had a fantastic dark rosewood J Mascis neck for awhile. I was hoping it was a chunky neck, but mine was not (not enough), but it is wide, frets are huge, and it felt great. I had it on my Partsmaster, which rotates parts through the years. I sold the neck, still looking for chunk.

In this state:
-VM Oly white body, copper shielding
-Complete wire harness, pot, switch, knob upgrade
-Staytrem bridge
-AV trem
-Tone-Guard anodized guard
-Novak JM gold foils

I'll settle on a neck, even if I have to just make one myself :)

Any idea what year it was? If you have a picture of the serial the first two digits indicate the year.

A Mascis will undoubtedly be my next purchase, I'm holding out for a rosewood version hopefully one with a chunky neck.

That guitar is beautiful btw. I'd love to hear a sample of thsoe gold foils :?

It's a 2017. I regret selling, it really was a nice neck. The rose wood was consistently dark and well-polished, didn't care for the jumbo frets though.
Thanks, I'm using this guitar to make some Surfy Bear reverb clips, I'll link whenever I get to it.
