Stuck: Mustang Arm Screw

Post by Danley » Sat Jun 29, 2019 7:06 pm

Good news is I have one - bad news, it’s stuck in the cigar. ‘64 vibrato; corroded, worried about it disintegrating beneath my screwdriver. For now I have it soaking in white lithium grease. Ideas for next steps?

Heat (heat gun or small butane gas torch) and penetrating lubricant.

Repeat as necessary for as long as you retain patience or it starts shifting :/

Yeah, this is what penetrating lubricant is made for. I've always had best luck with PB Blaster. It doesn't take much, but it may take repeated applications. I tend to let it work over night, and come back to it. It really gives it a chance to get through some of the corrosion.
