Crackling caused by 3 way switch on JM?

Post by daemon » Mon Jul 22, 2019 5:29 am

So at our last practice, and then at a gig the other night, I noticed that there was kind of a crackling/cutting out thing happening with my JM. I thought at first it might be my amp, because I'd had it serviced for some other issues, but I noticed after toggling the 3 way switch back and forth it seemed to go away. I haven't had a chance to go down the rabbit hole of looking at it more closely yet, but if it is the switch, is that something that's worth trying to fix or is it better just to get a new switch and be done with it? This is a '94 and I think it's the original switch.

Spray the contacts with CRC contact cleaner.
King Buzzo: I love when people come up to me and say “Your guitar sound was better on Stoner Witch, when you used a Les Paul. “...I used a Fender Mustang reissue on that, dumbass!

That makes perfect sense, I didn't even think about that. I have some of that spray at home so I'll give that a shot.
Thanks!
