Hello all, searched the archives prior to posting, but couldn’t find anything.
Need to upgrade the tuning pegs on my squier VI ASAP... Any advice on tuners? My main concern is what tuners will fit the low e. I typically use the d’adario VI set, but my tech always swaps the strings and I’m not sure if they taper.
Any advice appreciated. Cheers!
Bass VI Tuners...what are you guys using??

I use La Bella flatwound Bass VI strings, they taper at the end so they fit easily in the tuners even though they are basically guitar tuners (I have an MIJ Bass VI, I assume Squier ones are similar). If you use tapering strings made specifically for Bass VI, you should be able to just upgrade your tuners to a Fender set, or basically any guitar tuners you like since the strings will fit.

I don’t know if Daddario strings taper, but it should be fairly evident by looking at how they feed into the tuner post.
I use La Bella nickel roundwounds, which definitely have a thinner section for inserting in the tuner. I have Kluson double-row tuners, but you’ll be fine with any decent brand in the “safety-post “style (eg, Fender, Gotoh, Grover, Kluson, etc).
Cheers.
