Interesting. You say .015uF makes it usable, while I live by my .1uF caps. Everyone’s tone is preferential.
Are you sure about .1 caps?

That seems pretty extreme with regards to the most common values being in the 022-047 range.

I agree. 0.1uF sounds extreme for a tone cap. But in my HH Jazzmaster, paired with a 250k tone pot, it works like magic for me. I can’t explain why, but is definitely a combination more people should try.

Hello!
Some help needed
I replaced my CIJ Jazzsmaster mini pots with CTS ones (both 1 meg audio taper).
Soldered them in exactly the same way as the originals, only the cap were replaced with the old PIO bumble bee (0.030 something), but there is no signal (the rhythm cirquit works). Should CTS pots be connected differently than Japanese ones?

Can you post a picture? Impossible to tell without a look at the wires themselves

I couldn't figure out how to add a photo, but this link has a close photo of a CIJ Jazzmaster pots, which is identical to mine, probably the standard:

I think I found a mistake, one lug of the pot was broken together with the plastic, the crack must have come, because the whole thing is significantly bigger than the previous one and when installing the pickguard, it hit the wood of the guitar tightly

Sounds like that would do it. You can solder to the stump of the leg if it’s accessible.
To answer your other question there’s no difference between the pots in wiring terms (or even in sound terms, but a placebo is a hell of a drug!).

Thanks a lot for respond!!

I replaced the broken pot, it turned out to be a volume, I put the Japanese original back, until I find a new one. Everything works, but the sound is significantly better in my opinion, it's definitely not a placebo, it's probably an old PIO bumle bee cap from the 50s and the tone is usable all the way, before the highs after 8 disappear. Everything sounds nicer, fresher, including the pedals I planned to sell are now in use again :)
