Marr Jag Bridge Opinions
Anyone have a Johnny Marr jag? I know when they first came out, they had the incorrect 55mm spacing, as opposed to the 52. Are these bridge any good/did you leave yours stock? Does the radius match up?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I've got the Sherwood Green and my bridge is trouble-free, FWIW.

Is this true? Was a change made at some point? Never heard this.

Yep, we were all over it around here. New bridge (~52mm E-E) part number 7712971000; original part number 0091905000. Riley still the only aftermarket source AFAIK ...

Parts manual has never been updated for new version AFAIK ...

Same narrowing of E-E spacing happened with the later Am Pro 9.5" Mustang-style bridge, although in that case the part number was not changed.

Re: Marr Jag Bridge Opinions
Mine came with the wide spacing, and it's noticeably wide. A staytrem was a real improvement there (and is a notch up in heft, too). I'd seriously consider getting the 52 mm bridge if I hadn't had a staytrem on hand.
The Marr bridge is also a step up from a mustang bridge.

Oh, that's wonderful information, thank you! Coincidentally I just ordered one of those bridges for my Marr jag from Riley a few days ago, so I guess I'll have the right one when it arrives.timtam wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 4:12 pmYep, we were all over it around here. I went the same route. I ordered the 52mm Marr bridge from Riley and a Mastery, intending to return one of them. I ended up keeping the Marr 52mm bridge, returning the Mastery and selling the stock 55mm Marr bridge on Reverb. All is well with the world now!

Yes, my Johnny Marr Jaguar has a Mastery on it now, but I've ordered the new version of the Marr bridge now and will put it on the guitar. I like to keep things mostly original and this will be the way Johnny plays his.egostatistical wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 11:50 amI went the same route. I will keep the Mastery so that I can put it on a '65 Jazzmaster that I don't own yet.

Re: Marr Jag Bridge Opinions
The updated Marr bridge I ordered has now been installed, and I really like it. It definitely changes the feel of the guitar from the middle of the neck up. I didn't expect it would make as much difference as it has, but for me it's a big improvement. I am going to leave my new Marr bridge in my Marr jag and keep my mastery bridge for my next offset.
Love my Marr jag, it's so awesome.

I have one of the early Johnny Marr Jaguars. I currently have the stock bridge, but plan on installing a Mastery bridge.

I'm interested in purchasing the Riley jag bridge for my road worn jazzmaster. I don't know much about setups, but I've found my rw jazzmaster has a string spacing of 42mm and the bridge is at 55mm(?). Do you guys know if this will be okay in my guitar?

Re: Marr Jag Bridge Opinions
That 42mm is the string spacing at the nut. If you measure from E string to E string at your current bridge, that will give you the comparable dimension.
55mm is the wider spacing that some people (me included) find too wide on JMs and Jags. 52mm (give or take for conversion from imperial) is the vintage spacing.
Edit - or did you mean your current bridge is a 55? Sorry if I misunderstood. The posts should be the same regardless of 52 or 55 string spacing, so if your road worn has a regular JM bridge (not a tune o matic etc), then the 52mm one from Riley should drop in.

What I like the most about a jag and my jagumarr particularly is the sharp attack. In terms of standard bridge vs. updated bridge vs. mastery, how would the amount of attack change from one to the other (if at all?)?

Re: Marr Jag Bridge Opinions
awesome. Yes, my road worn jazz has a standard jm bridge on it. I thought it meant the string spacing at the bridge, and would be too wide for my fret board. thanks for the help!Bradley-Jazz wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:27 pmThat 42mm is the string spacing at the nut.
