Ranaldo jazzmaster mod

Post by courtship dating » Tue Feb 18, 2020 8:12 am

Hi everybody. Havnt posted in years. Anyway, about to get a friend to put a tone knob on my Ranaldo sig jazzmaster. So....what size pots should I get him to put in? (For volume too). I'm not technically minded but I have read that people often change pots on reissue WRHB's. Thanks for any advice. I plan on using this guitar as an "all rounder".

Fender put 250k pots on tele reissues with the reissue (bar magnet) WRHBs, which some people think is partly responsible for their less than stellar performance. The original WRHBs (CuNiFe) usually had 1meg pots. The stock Renaldo has a 500k volume pot, so it would make sense to use the same for an added tone pot. If the cavity is deep/wide enough, you could make it a push-pull pot, and so make the tone circuit on/off, thus having the original no-tone circuit when you want.
