Seymour Duncan Prails wiring...

Post by javier-san » Fri May 01, 2020 4:47 pm

I did search for this specific question, but did not see it.

So, I’ve got one of those Shell pink classic player jaguars with a bridge humbucker and a 2 way switch for a coil split.

I am planning to replace the stock humbucker for a prails. From my understanding, you can split it either 2 ways (p90/humbucker) or 3 ways (Everything). But can you split it 2 ways using a 2 way switch to choose between the p90 and rails single coil (meaning no humbucker)?

Thanks for any help!

Absolutely, you just wire it as a 2-way pickup selector with each coil being a separate pickup.

I've been having trouble finding a diagram. But I believe all you'd have to do is (if looking at the switch lugs) wire the left middle lug to ground along with the green and black (coil start) wires of the pickup, then solder one each of the white and red wires to the left upper and left lower lugs, with the middle right lug going to the main pickup selector as the "bridge hot" lead.

I believe that's the correct way to employ a DPDT as a SPDT pickup selector.
