I just put in my set of Iola's today. They're SO GREAT
I just need to lacquer the pickguard. Tort looks better but aluminum rejects noise so much better than a plastic guard and shield.

I also installed a set of Sunday Handwounds today! One of the guys on Puisheen's Discord sent me a set of Wandas so I put those in my purple Jag.OffYourFace wrote: βSat Jan 06, 2024 5:51 pmI just put in my set of Iola's today. They're SO GREAT

Grabbed some of these on sale as well.OffYourFace wrote: βSun Dec 24, 2023 10:59 pmi finally ordered a set of Iola's for myself. merry xmas to me
Also, $115 shipped for a set of high quality handwound pickups is kinda crazy. Sale ends 12/31
Just need to get a neck and all the hardware before I can play them.

Re: Sunday Handwired pickups FTW.
Ordered a set of tomcats for my new Jag from Tim today. Super quick to respond to my emails about them not showing as in stock (new A4 magnets arriving today) and just a pleasure to deal with.
Can't wait for them to arrive!

Re: Sunday Handwired pickups FTW.
Tim's a super nice dude and there've been a couple times we just carried on a conversation through Instagram... Just because. LOL This was before he launched the store, so I imagine he's quite a bit busier since so probably doesn't have that sort of time these days, but he really strikes me as a guy that gets joy out of having a happy customer.
I just haven't had a chance to even think about it but I've got a set of PV65s that I bought last year where the bridge pickup was DOA (seller just refunded me, so they ended up being free) and I chatted with Tim about getting them rewound. I just have to chat him up and see what I want to do about them.

Today I installed the Iola pickups on my Am Pro II and they are so tasty! The comments here helped to convince me to make the move, so thanks everyone. Tim was a pleasure to work with.

I have a tomcat middle pickup in my baritone and it's a GREAT pickup. One of the better jaguar pickups I've used.Daitong II wrote: βSun Jan 28, 2024 5:34 pmWould love to hear about your opinion on those. I was thinking about getting a set.

Re: Sunday Handwired pickups FTW.
I've wondered... Is it possible to bond a good tort to aluminum? In this age of home 3D printers and laser cutters things like that have to be getting easier, if it's possible at all. Could do a clear anodized guard with tort sitting on top and a beveled edge.OffYourFace wrote: βMon Jan 29, 2024 12:36 amThanks! It looks better with tort but I'm too accustomed to the shielding properties of an aluminum guard.

Yeah, I've got aluminum pick guards on a lot of guitars, the shielding really is fantastic. And I agree about the look, the matte of the anodizing contrasts with the high gloss of the guitar.OffYourFace wrote: βMon Jan 29, 2024 12:36 amThanks! I wonder if you couldn't paint the pick guard?
