lipsticks - wiring, pots?

I have an old danelectro with a 100k vol pot and a 1meg tone pot. If I add a bridge pickup, would the series position sound right with those original pots? I'm considering doing a p90 route and trying the Novak Lipstick-HMB pickup with a les paul deluxe style pickup surround. My idea would be to have the 3 pickup positions be the normal neck, neck pickup wired in series with the bridge pickup in single coil mode for the middle position, and then the bridge position would be the full two lipstick humbucker. I'd really like to keep the original pots, if I can. They make the neck pickup sound so woody and magical. But if use those pots, will the series position have the classic sound? Will the humbucker sound way too dark with those pots? Anybody happen to know from experience?
