Staytrem 12' on a JMJM

Post by hobbes » Wed Mar 20, 2024 2:09 am

Would a Staytrem 12' fit on a Squier J.Mascis ? Radius on the JMJM is 9.5 but I believe the tunomatic installed on it is already 12', so it won't change a thing, am I correct ?

Thank you !

You would need to do the grub screw trick for the bridge to sit in the AoM bushings, but then you wouldn't be fixing the radius issue which just makes sense to do if you're swapping the bridge anyway.

Aside from 9.5" / 12" radius mismatch (which may not be a concern for your playing style and preferences), I suspect that a reason Staytrem states their bridge is not for guitars with an Adjusto-matic bridge is a potential difference in bridge post spacing. I know my Sq JMJM has 74 mm post spacing, while most JMs have spacing closer to 73 mm.

I'll leave it to other OSG members to expand / correct.

Do you already have a 12“ Staytrem Bridge? These must be super rare and maybe valuable to some.
The 9,5“ seems like the better choice.

There used to be a drop in Staytrem bridge specifically fitting the JMJM, at least I have one on my JMJM. Do Staytrem not make those anymore?

Here it is on Reverb - sold 8 years ago.

somebody offered me one, they are actually quite rare. I already have a 7.5 Staytrem on my Fender Jazzmaster RI and I really like it, so I thought I could give it a try on the JMJM.
