Wound 3rd string
Wound 3rd string
Will swapping out the wound third string for a plain steel one cause any noticeable change in the neck relief. My current string gauges are 11-15-22-30-40-50. I can't bend a wound 22 3rd sring worth a crap. Would a plain 18 or 19 (is there such a thing) do the trick?

Re: Wound 3rd string
My guess is just that one string won't make enough of a difference to need any adjustment. However I can't really be certain. Maybe some other have more experience here.

Re: Wound 3rd string
Never noticed any difference when replacing (e.g.) a broken
string with a thinner or fatter one. that's a minor difference.
even with a whole set of lighter or heavier gauge (from .010 to .011)
I don't have to adjust the necks.
