For anyone who's interested, I picked up a Mighty Might roller TOM bridge was a straight drop on to my CP jazzy. Didn't even remove the strings, just loosened them up, pulled the stock AOM bridge and dropped this in on the same posts. I can't believe how much more sustain it has now and is SO much smoother with the trem. I got mine on Amazon.com because I had a gift card, but I'm not seeing there now. It looks the same as this one http://www.guitarfetish.com/Roller-Brid ... p_661.html. I know it's got the 12" radius, but it appears to be the same radius as the stock Adjust-o-matics that come with the CPs.

I'm very interested in this modification, but I've got a few questions.

1. How did you guys go about adding the extra length between the two posts? I know the JM/Mustang bridge posts are slightly narrower spaced. Was it just a question of biasing it a little to the outside each pass with the drill?

2. I'm doing this for the first time, what reissue Mustang bridge should I use? Do you guys recommend any one model in particular?

3. As far as taking off the posts, did pulling with the pliers damage the base at all? Require any sanding?

I've got TMJM in the mail and I'm 99% sure the TOM radius thing is going to bug me.

re-read this thread and you'll get the idea - basically you drill out the posts - and make it just a slight bit wider - checking your work on the way - and it'll drop right on to your TMJM!

Sorry--kind of new to all this modification business, just drill right into where the posts connect to remove them?

This really seems like it will fix everything I want! A best of both worlds kind of solution!

I had a hard time understanding exactly what the OP meant... I see it now that I've been messing around with a jazzmaster bridge I had. Nice Idea!

Another way is to get some kind of inserts, some pill shaped piece of metal of the right size and just drop it in the post holes. That seems to be working also.

Do you mean a hollow piece of metal? Or just some kind of hunk of metal to shove in the posts?

Any ideas what to use?

If you're replying to me, I actually just got back from the hardware store...I found a couple of things that could work but none fit exactly right. The closest/easiest thing I found was this, it's working quite well for now:

Did you put them screw side down? Just trying to wrap my head around how this would work.

Yep, screw side down. The ones I got said "1/2 extension" but I think they're a little bit longer than what would be perfect. The black screw that comes out of the bridge post is small enough to fit in the middle of these extensions without screwing at all (just slides in the hole). This is on a mascis squier by the way.

Did this mod to my CP jag today. Works great solved my problems. For those interested I had to work up to a 1/4 drill bit and still couldn't get it to fit so finally a 17/64ths did the job but it did end up a little loose on the posts but once the strings are tuned up it sits fine. Will probably do this for my J Mascis JM as well. Thanks again jonas!

This is a Fender Starcaster/Blender knob and I've seen them on eBay and in the for sale-section here on the forum sometimes.

Did this on my JMJM today with a Mustang bridge shimmed to 9.5" radius. Much, much better. Thanks.
