Heh, I used to live right across the street from their headquarters, never got to try the strings.

I don't know if it is just an impression but it seems to me they're a little on the bright side.
Am I true?

Fitted some BB113's to my 335 last night.
I previously had D'Addario EJ21's on it. I need(and like) a wound third, as I have an earvana nut, which is designed for a wound third.
Here is the guage comparison.
DA 12,16,24w,32,42,52
TI. 13,17,21w,30,38,53
As far as sound, the TI's weren't as bright, which was a good thing. I use a .73mm tortex pick, so it seemed fairly complimentary.
The TI guages provide a slight mid-scoop, which I also like, especially on my JM, as I have Lollar pups with radiused poles.

I did stuff up one of the strings though. Usually I cut my strings about an inch longer than the tuner post before fitting.
That meant cutting off the green wrapped section of the string. When I did, the most inner core popped out about 5mm & the middle core dissapeared. :fp: I tried stretching the string to line up the ends & wound it on, but the string was completely dead/dull. So if you are fitting them, make sure you put it through the eyelet before cutting off, on shorter scale guitatrs. Didn't matter with the JM because there was always some wrap left on the end. Luckily, I bought 2 sets.

I agree. Similar to pure nickle types, but brigjter than flatwounds, but hopefully more durable than both.

(Why start a new thread when an old one can be revived?)

Finally got around to trying the TI ‘be-bop’ roundwounds mentioned in the first post of this thread. I’ve been using TI flats for several years, and decided it was time to try the rounds.

As is the case with their flatwounds, the be-bops are noticeably different to most other brands. They have a really nice mid-range twang that I’m really enjoying on a jazzmaster.

Recommend trying them if you’re feeling like a change, and don’t mind paying a bit more.

I use both TI Swings and Pyramid Golds. Lately I am preferring the Pyramids. They seem more consistent to me. More sets feel right versus the TIs. But TIs are great strings as well.
Strat Kinman KITA set, Tele SD Seth Lover neck only, Jazzmaster Kinman Thickmaster set, Jazzmaster 12 Rose Picasso set, Martin SC-13E Special, Gibson ES-390, ES-165 490R, ES-165 BJB, Henriksen Jazz Amp x2 for Stereo

I love their flatwounds. I think I've pretty much exclusively switched to them.

I added some to my JMJM. And I have to agree with the enthusiastic response to them on this forum; they restrain JM's worst tendencies in brightness and just make a stronger fundamental note. But they weren't as dark as I was afraid they were gonna make my JM too!

It helps that I always liked "dead" strings better than "fresh ones"; though I prefer to say "warm and worn in" and "harsh and piercing" for each 😜

Been using BB113s for years and love them. They are stable af and sound just right to me.

First time user. Put a set of Jazz Swing13s on my JM today. Love the feel (actually checked if I had greasy fingers a few times in the first 5 minutes :fp: ). Love the sound too, it gets me a lot closer to the surf guitar tone I'm chasing. In large part Oleg Guitarkin from Messer Chups. Tremolo picking is easier. Tuning stability is good too.

Also noticed I was able to lower the action.

I ended up turning the 'middle' knob on my amp all the way down to 1 (bass at 2.5, treble at 4). Now I know why Fender didn't put a mid control on a lot of their amps. :P

Are flatwounds known for having more mids?
