Yeah, a pale Sonic Blue WOULD look really good. I actually do intend to put the P-Bass pickup cover on it too!! I didn't know they made white MM pickup covers... Hmm... That gives me a few more options... Thanks dude! Where'd you find those pictures?

Why is 2 or 3 pickups the norm for guitar but 2 pickups on a bass somehow out there? The tele is often held up as the pinnacle of simple and utilitarian, but it has 2 pickups. Different songs call for different tones, and that goes for bass just as much as guitar. Perhaps changing tone mid song is less common for bass, but a funk grove and a 90's grunge tune and a 60's doo wop aren't all going to have the same feel. This is osg for crying out loud, its all about weirdly complex instruments. rant ends sorry for the derail

I like the way you think! Haha. I've never been someone who changes bass pickups during song (usually), but for different songs? Hell yes I do!

I just got home from work (second shift) and I was looking back at your photoshopped P-Basses and hhhehehe you gave me an idea... Krylon fusion (the stuff that's really good with plastic) and a custom painted MM color...

Just had an epic idea. I was looking through some older posts and found the Goldmaster thread. This is what I'm thinking: that vintagey orange that I like so much, with a maple neck, and a gold guard... ???

Not psyched about that tbh. With Anodised silver instead of gold it might look cool though. :) But I still favour the pale sonic blue.

I like the sonic blue too, but I think I'm gonna use that scheme for my Bass VI project I'm working on. I've kinda decided on the orange for sure (not quite like that original picture, but a bit closer to the base orange (i.e. not the stripes) from a Competition Mustang, with maybe a hint more orange to it...

Love the MM pickup! Reminds me of my buddy's frankensteined '67.

And I'd vote for white with black. But I'm biased ;)

FWIW, I also thought a gold guard on orange was a fantastic idea - until I tried it ;D

Went for this instead...

Man OIG! Those natural and white ones are gorgeous :? :?

See, the gold on orange would look great, (that's kinda the orange shade I'm going for), but I'd do two things different on yours: maple neck and white/cream pickup covers. I think the dark neck and black pickup covers stick out too much (like new aesthetics on an old-school base). It turned our really great in the end though!!!
