Great news :) I prefer the first option (and I also prefer the "original" Motorik headstock).

Have you considered using Gretsch-type PUs? I can imagine this would be pretty awesome with some HiLoTrons, Filtertrons or something like that.... If it's essentially just a jag with a slightly different body shape, it's not as special as it could be.

Great to see you up and running here again, Ben!

:)

I also like the Mustang style better - the Jag plate doesn't follow the design language/lines of the rest of the guitar IMO.

I would try ty have the thumbweels where the mustang switches normally are and the rythm circuit switch somewhere by the rotary.
Is there a way to have the rythm switch "included" in the rotary - like:
1) Neck
2) Neck + Bridge parallell
3) N+B series
4)Bridge
5) Neck (or whatever pup combo) rythm circuit

I thought about moving the rollers up, but there's really not enough room above the pickups for the pots - I wondered about putting the rhythm switch on the rotary, too, but I'm kind of just wanting to use as much of my parts box up as possible with this one, and I like the idea of a separate switch and the ability to leave the selector in a particular position. I've just thought, too, that it might be possible to have the rhythm switch as a mustang slider with the other psition being a 'treble' switch like on my Klira - bridge only, bypassing the tone pot.

I have no real experience of gretsch style pickups...but agan this goes back to wanting to use up what I already have knocking around, and not being able to decide between this and a straight jag (or mustang...)

This is it with an original MOTORIK guard:

Totally agree with Jerker here...the first "mustang" guard option follows the lines and overall design better.

I figured at least two people did, since I thought it was cool and someone else bought it, right?

Yeah - nice to see you posting again! And the build sounds like a good 'un. And... are you still willing to crazy mod my Jag when I have the moola?

My vote is, stick with the Jag plate.

I would also prefer a rhythm circuit type placement of the switches as apposed to the mustang type. Basically, just to get the switches out of the way. But I like the look too. However I'm torn between the chrome and no chrome. I think both look great.

Hey Ben, I know this might be a bit um... I don't know... cocky? But I was gonna ask if you might be into the idea of sending me a copy of your file for this so I can play with pickguard concepts. I think I have an idea that you will like.

Totally understand if the answer is no though. :)

On its way, Paul. There might be some strange colour fill issues to contend with on the illustrator files - corel doesn't seem to be able to export to ai particularly smoothly.

Nothing cocky about it :)

Okay, here's my idea. The overall pickguard shape is changed because I feel like with a shortscale guitar, you have to have a short pickguard. But I didn't want to tweak it too much, the basic idea is still there. I also changed the lower plate to a Jaguar plate, because I think it just flows with the shape better than the Mustang plate.

But if you wanted to do it as a one big pickguard with no plates, it would look like this. Your knob positions would stay where they were originally.
