Yeah, I'd seen several like that in research phase & did a similar shape mockup. They are marketed as ergonomic. That section that fits between the legs sort of made it impractical where/how I sit.papa_hotel_delta wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 7:17 pmI never really thought of them as ergonomic but maybe that's where they were going with this:

Thanks. Shortening the lower bout & rounding it allows me to tap my left foot without my thigh moving the guitar. Realised guitar wasn't sitting parrallel to front of body , the extended lower bout was sort of enforcing one position. I wanted the ability to move the guitar around while playing, same as standing.

Assembled & setup

Attempted to blue the steel control plate to compliment the Tru Oil gunstock finish. First attempt, too timid with the flame, ended up with this rainbow effect. Like it. Sealed with two coats of Tru Oil.

Pleased with the neck pocket fit

Neck plate also rainbowed

Body contour

That's fantastic. I would play the hell out of that. Seated.

Re: Ergonomic (sitting) guitar (body) build
I'm about to make some changes and realised I hadn't posted the current setup, here it is -

Solid brass control knobs turned on lathe, Bourns blend pot

Neck has been fine sanded, about 600grit and Dr Ducks Axe Wax rubbed in. Has given a really nice satin finish.

Re: Ergonomic (sitting) guitar (body) build
Here are the current modifcations.

CTS solid shaft 500kA pots volume & tone (CTS don't do solid shaft 500kB pots - not in the wonderful land of Oz anyway)

Because I got hold of old oxy acetylene handpieces with cool knobs! (used oxy for control plate treatment)

and changed to a Bourns 500k blend pot
really enjoying playing this and have a name for it now, designing a logo!

Wow that is a totally fascinating and original design you’ve created
Very nice work, this was a fun thread to read!
