I mean, it's likely that StayTrem isn't John's only thing going and maybe he just wants to scale back.
I'd always assumed that too, although probably based on no evidence whatsoever.

Much as I agree that Brexit is going to be an absolute shitshow with the potential to hit a lot of small UK businesses very hard, I am not sure it is necessarily linked to the Staytrem thing. There could be lots of reasons why John needs/wants to scale back production and, if overseas orders have the potential for more hassle than shipping domestically, maybe he's decided to just stick with his home market.

I did want to pick up a bridge for my Johnny Marr Jaguar at some point (prefer the string spacing on the proper Staytrems to the modified Mustang bridge it comes with) so hopefully they'll still be available in the future.

While there are a few of us here in the UK who probably wouldn't mind acting as conduits for Staytrem gear, you should all be aware that it's likely that anything coming from the UK after Brexit may be well be flagged by customs worldwide.
I may have to take you up on that in the next month or so after the site is back up before it's completely impossible and the prices are super inflated via ebay and all that.

I’d love to see him license the rights to Fender. Let them build, sell, and ship them, and then he could take a portion of the profit. He might even end up making more money (plus less work) that way anyways.

Which prompts again the question I tried to explore earlier, "What are they key attributes of the (real) Staytrem" ? Anyone care to offer their experience ?
Bigger posts, nylon bushings instead of springs, options for radius matching, better string spacing, single string intonation, reliability, even a caveperson can make they offset play nice with one.

The Staytrem is, as others have said, essentially a better engineered Mustang bridge. The key to me for the Staytrem in my experience with them is a sort of “set it and forget it” reliability that I haven’t always got from Mustang bridges. I can get the same sort of performance from a stock Mustang bridge but it requires more work and finesse. Praise be to OSG for having all helpful information for that. Personally, I have 6 Jazzmasters now. All are vintage neck radius so I generally have Mustangs on them all, but my AV65 has a Staytrem. Upgrading from Mustang to Staytrem in this instance meant my bridge didn’t rock as much and my string spacing was improved on that particular guitar.

Over the years I’ve owned flatter radius neck Jazzmasters and jaguars. Staytrem seemed to be more sensitive to the market than Mastery by offering a drop-in replacement for the adjustomatic bridges Fender used on a lot of newer offsets. Mostly for me Staytrem did offset enthusiasts a solid by offering a solution to a problem many of us have with stock offset bridges at a reasonable price with great reliance. I really should Staytrem the rest of my guitars.

When I bought a Bass VI bridge a couple of weeks ago it was £70. I think the Jaguar/Jazzmaster bridge was a couple of pounds cheaper (they were £65 when I bought one back in 2013).

The tremolo upgrade was £30 back in 2013. Suspect it would have gone up a bit since then.
How did you manage to order one, he told me had backorders on bass vi bridges up until October - and boy I need one. I just emailed him again in hope to get one.

John told me the same back in June but I just happened to be nosing around the site last month and saw they were orderable again so dived in.

Really glad I did now.

Aw, man, I got one of the batch of AOM bridges a couple of weeks ago but I couldn't order that and a Staytrem for my Marrguar on the same order. Thought I'd wait.

I had to check the date of the original post and make sure it wasn't from April Fool's Day. This is a royal bummer. Let's hope that maybe this is all due to such high demand that he struck up a licensing agreement to have someone else (perhaps Fender) produce the bridges in greater quantities. I was planning on buying several more bridges in the future, so add me to the list of those keeping an eye on how this develops.

I think anyone hoping for a Fender licensing deal is going to be disappointed - Fender has shown no interest in 'improving' the offset bridge along the lines of the Staytrem. The traditional bridge (and the Marr/AmPro Mustang saddle bridges) haven't hurt their sales during this boom, they're not going to change now - if offset sales dip they'll just continue selling the better selling models.

As loathsome as Brexit is, I doubt that is the cause of this decision - Brexit isn't going to change the way customs works between the US and UK, for instance.

The site says quantities will be limited and we've seen how often they go in and out of stock, so it's probably a supply bottleneck he doesn't feel like it's worth fixing.

Yeah, this is no good. I took delivery of a bridge, collet and arm literally 2 days ago. I must've just gotten lucky. My first experience with Staytrem, but so far so good. I've used Mastery quite a bit in the past. It was definitely nice to have options, as I only bought the bridge to try something different. I guess Mastery it is from now on.

This is a real bummer. I've been becoming ambivalent about the Mastery bridges on my JM and Jag and was thinking about making the jump, since I was never really 100% on board with the Mastery.

Hopefully this doesn't completely jack up the used prices on these.

Hopefully.
