jazzmaster 62 LPB project
it's been a while i've been posting here; meantime i've got a new jazzmaster.
i made several parts guitars since a decade or more, but i'm not so good with the painting job, so i wanted to test a local luthier, not expensive. He is called Jacobson (Lille, France) : he's his website: https://vintagefguitares.blogspot.com/
the thing was to made a repro of a 1962 lake placid blue jazzmaster.
the specs:
- guitarbuild UK body that he reshape a bit, he curves a bit more the contours
- allparts neck, he puts clay dots on it
- LPB paint with checking and a light relic
- MS Tornade pickups, a french brand that is really good, i prefer it to the Curtis Novak, more bite and warm but still really close repro to vintage
- classic vintage correct wiring, except 500k pots
- avri hardware reliced
the pics:
I change the pickguard, but i'm not sure about it:

The color almost appears Ocean Turquoise in certain shots, but more LPB up close. I suppose that is part of the relic, but is that what you've found or does it look more blue in person?

Re: jazzmaster 62 LPB project
it depends of the light;
it's very blue with sun light and can goes until green with artificial light.
on the right is OTM (naturally yellowed in its life), middle this LPB, left squier sonic blue:

Very cool! I think I like the LPB the best though with the matching headstock.teensupertiger wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:29 pmit depends of the light;

Wow, that looks amazing. I'm looking at putting together a JM build just not sure of the colour yet. LPB is one of the front runners.

Absolutely gorgeous I prefer the white guard. A friend goes weak at the knees for the tort.
I'm in the process of my own LPB build at the moment. Yours is very inspiring. Congrats !!

Tiens !
Salut Seb
J'aurais fait une 66, et je préfère avec le pickguard tortoise.

Re: jazzmaster 62 LPB project
cool one, I'd go for a mint guard with a 60 degree bevel.

Re: jazzmaster 62 LPB project
yep, i think more and more to put back the aged white pickguard. Also the color has aged a bit since this summer (the shots are from), i will do an update when i will change the PG.
