Thanks for the heads-up about Lucky Pick! Looking for a place not too far from me in Montgomery Co. that does great work and is reasonably priced.

I reached out, and hopefully will have some things to post here soon!

When a 2018 Marr jag eventually becomes a 'vintage' instrument, will an old refin be judged as having been a bad idea, decreasing its value substantially ? ;)
I don’t think modern guitars will ever be in the same “vintage” category as 50s-70s guitars., no matter how old they get.

Or will current generation, premium, signature guitars like the Marr never acquire the same vintage cachet that makes an original finish much more valuable ?
I believe certain models such as de Johnny Marr Jag most definetely will because they are great instruments, especially if they're discontinued in the near future. And as any refin, it'll really depend on on the quality of the paint job.

my thoughts are that the ones that really reach that point will be newer designs - i’m with you in that variations on reissued instruments, 2010s jags etc., will never reach the same level of perceived value and mystique.

Thanks, guys! My guitar tech does outstanding refin work - Keirn Hilleary at Lucky Pick Guitars - https://www.luckypickguitars.com/ here in Maryland. He recently relocated his shop so he's still building a new spray booth. I hope he'll have it ready by next spring.

I'll try Keirn/Lucky Pick again - I'd love to be able to get some stuff done locally as well.

Silver Spring MD guy here. I've never known of a 'super' local person-- I've always shipped mine out of the area. MJT, Rowyco, Lay's Guitar and a couple others.

(CRIPES... how many guitars have I had painted over the years??!?

Edit: best guess is seven. )

I'm almost embarrassed to admit how many guitars Stike has refinished (or finished) for me (ROWYCO Kustoms) over the years...

I've also had some MJT and GuitarPaintGuys stuff done, but really just looking for somebody to spray a neck or two locally at present.
