I didn’t build the frames themselves. I have utmost respect for people who can do that.
Same. I would love to be able to do that. I'm a decent welder so far, but I don't know if I'd trust the sturdiness of something like that that I built. And if it was sturdy enough, it would likely be ugly as hell. Do you save some money building the bikes vs buying a finished bike?

Much like guitars stock bikes often come with some junky parts to hit a price point. I wouldn’t say it’s a money saver, but I think I can put together a better/lighter/more interesting bike than what I could buy at a shop for similar money.

Interesting. I think I could probably figure out a bike. I might have to look into that. I've been wanting to get a new bike (possibly mountain bike-esque) for a little while.

This is going to be really cool with the satin black. I like the pickup configuration, too.

Two is the correct number of pickups, and the correct number of pickups is two.

Haha, agreed. Generally my taste in guitars is fairly traditional/conservative, but now and then I have a desire for something a bit silly, like a matte-black triple humbucker job, or a fluoro yellow Ibanez Jem :o

So good on you for this outrageous build!

Cheers!

Allparts tele neck came in. I dyed it with vintage amber dye. Already got a coat of clear on it. More coats to go. I sprayed my first coat of matte Krylon acrylic clear. It looks awesome!

First coat is showing the spray pattern, but I am sure after I do a couple more coats it will be even flat. :D

My metal rings and bridge came today, I realized I cannot do body mounted pickups because it was initially routed for standard tele pickups so there isn't enough wood to mount the neck humbucker. That means I need to order a pickguard for it. For whatever reason warmoth won't do humbucker size for the middle pickguard position so I will probably do two Gibson size mini humbuckers,

Any recommendations for a nice set of mini humbuckers that won't make me go broke? I tend to like ceramic pickups if that helps.

Ceramic and won't make you go broke? GFS Minitron Nashville, if you're into bright/Filtertron territory pickups. They're essentially just ceramic mini-humbuckers with 12 screw polepieces and an H-cover.

I got a set of D'Urbano (Mr. Fabulous) Firebird pickups which were a great value for handwound pickups, but they're a step up in price bracket from GFS.

Cool! I will look into those. Dimarzio makes some mini humbuckers and I often enjoy their pickups.
