Jaguar project build!
No photos yet, but last night I bought a vintage ‘65 Mustang neck on Reverb, and this morning I ordered an ultra-light weight Ash Jaguar body from Guitar Mill!
I’m really excited to have the vintage neck!
As far as color goes...I’m leaning toward Charcoal Metallic or possibly a slightly yellowed Ocean Turquoise.
I HOPE to be able to use as many vintage Jag parts that I can find good deals on, so it might be somewhat of a slow build. It all just depends on how quickly I can amass the pieces.
I’ll try to post photos of the build process but was so excited...I wanted to let you all know!
I’ll update as soon as the neck and body come in!

Re: Jaguar project build!
The first piece has arrived! It’s an oddball, but I’m fairly confident that it’s the real deal mid-60’s Fender Neck.
The “Mustang” part of the decal is missing, and the ink stamp at the bottom of the neck is missing. So, I’m guessing it was refinished at some point? If so...it was done a LONG TIME ago. The frets are low so this might be the time for me to try my first refret, we’ll see.
I got the neck for a price that was too hard to pass up, so a little work doesn’t bother me.
I also ordered some vintage control plates and knobs today. Should be cool!
I’m excited for the body to come in and hope to find a vintage trem unit for a decent price. I think I’ll run a mustang bridge and I’m thinking about trying some Rose Pickups.
Here are some photos...

Re: Jaguar project build!
Oh great...another cool color to add to the list! Haha
I’ve already bought Whimbeldon White, so maybe I’ll still go with that. There’s always Aztec Gold and Inca Silver, too....
Since the body is ash, if I do go with the white, I might spray it light and let a bit of grain show through.
Color will for sure depend on the pickguard color.

Ha! Those were the exact two colors I almost went with before settling on classic 3tsb for my MJT based Jazzzmaster build.wademp wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 7:53 amNo photos yet, but last night I bought a vintage ‘65 Mustang neck on Reverb, and this morning I ordered an ultra-light weight Ash Jaguar body from Guitar Mill!

Did a Jag last year similarly, using a Musicmaster neck, and it turned out one of my favorite guitars I've ever owned. Post as you go! Building a Jag was super fun and really upped my confidence level in doing this kind of thing.

I have a Jazzmaster to match my Jag that MJT is finishing up this week. I really should document and post that build as well. Looking forward to seeing yours!

Yeah, do a build post!
All my parts are in except for the Rose Pickups and the Spitfire Guard.
I PLAN to start grain filling tomorrow.
I’ll try to post pics as I go through the whole process!

Re: Jaguar project build!
I think I will! MJT is shipping today, the pickguard shield I ordered when I realized I didn't have enough shielding tape and said "eff it, buying the shield" is out for delivery today...aside from a stop at Lowe's for weatherstrip stuff for pickup pads (sorry not sorry, $9 for those plus shipping for the same thing is too much) I should be able to start this weekend! I always have a hell of a time posting pics here but I'll sort it.wademp wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 5:34 pmEl Reclusa wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 5:46 pmI have a Jazzmaster to match my Jag that MJT is finishing up this week. Re: Jaguar project build!
I am biased as I have an Inca Silver Jaguar........ I vote Inca Silver.
